FARMING STORIES

Support of local organic farming is a main priority of our store. We purchase as much produce as possible from Pfenning's Organic Farm (located between Kitchener and Stratford) as well as other local organic farms including:

• Ted Thorpe located in Millgrove, ON (Near Hamilton)
• Berretta Farms & Fenwood Farms via Hallelujah for meats and fish
• Dairy from Harmony Organics, Organic Meadow and Ewenity Dairy Cooperative.

Since the store opened, Organics on Bloor has always had a dedication to local and certfied organic produce, with an emphasis on supporting local farmers. Building a relationship with our suppliers and farmers is important to us, and it gives us a greater feeling of connection to the food that we are consuming.

EwenityOrganic Dairy Co-0p
CONN, ONTARIO, CANADA

Ewenity (pronounced "unity" - get it?) is a co-operative of Ontario farmers who milk sheep and turn the milk into cheese and yogurt. The five founding members of the Ewenity Dairy Co-operative came together over two years ago, bound by common ideals and goals. The Co-op was formed in the spring of 2001. The five founder members all believe the viability and the sustainability of the family farm is the backbone of rural communities.
